Haiti Orphans in America

Haiti Children at Children's Hospital In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The kids from Haiti awaited adoption in Pittsburgh, PA through the Immigration Department, and with the federal courts in the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in the U.S.A. The ARC worked in shifts to provide care to each child with other relief agencies like ourselves. I am a Disaster Action Team member with the American Red Cross.

9-1-1

I like research. Last evening, we visited the 9-1-1 operations center in Pittsburgh, Pa for an excellent tour of their facilities. We saw the situation room, radio room, media room, and the 9-1-1 operations room for Allegheny County. Our 9-1-1 operations in SouthWestern Pennsylvania is impressive. First, I must say "I have gained alot of knowledge from our visit." Each operator has four to five screens in front of them, with information where they answer, dispatch and help 9-1-1 callers with police or ambulance services.

They said, they receive more calls for person's pulled over on the side of the road, then for a fire. Interesting! I am a volunteer for the American Red Cross. They do not run statistics or do research on the coorelation between what comes in at the 9-1-1 desk and/or with the dispatching of emergency calls. Example; changes in the atmosphere are not tallied. If, there is a snow and ice storm, the number of accidents during that period are probably increased, however it is not studied by anyone in that center. Each operator has a script that is available to them, the script was written twenty years ago. It originated with the television program called 9-1-1 Rescue.

Research

In the 1980's, when I took a computer programing class at Trinity University's, School of Education, in Washington, D.C. the graduate program had very little information known to them about "artificial intelligence." Basically, we had to memorize the "definition" for our exam.

Future Article.

What about the future?

I would like to submit my research article to the magazine called "Law and Order" http://deborahfarnsworth.webs.com/index.htm The Law and Order magazine requires a photograph of one or more police officer's. In this research, I have placed a photograph of my Grandfather Officer William S. Bollman, who appeared in the newspaper with one of the original robots which were made in Pittsburgh, PA. My dream is to have a photograph and story of a "futuristic" police officer, who's detail is to investige the illegal use of "artificial intelligence" in the magazine article.
